River to Coast Children's Services (RCCS) is a nonprofit Family Resource Center dedicated to nurturing the healthy development of children and families throughout Western Sonoma County. Since 1976, RCCS has partnered with families, child care providers, schools, and community organizations to remove barriers, expand opportunities, and strengthen the systems that help children thrive. Position Summary
The Resource & Referral Coordinator oversees RCCS's Resource & Referral Program and serves as a key resource for families, child care providers, and the community. This position helps families access child care information and referrals, supports parents in making informed child care choices, and connects families with additional community resources when needed.
The Resource & Referral Coordinator also works closely with existing and prospective child care providers by providing resources, technical assistance, training opportunities, and support with starting and maintaining quality child care services. The position maintains accurate provider and referral information, coordinates community outreach, supports program reporting and compliance, and builds partnerships that strengthen child care resources throughout Western Sonoma County.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement RCCS's Resource & Referral Program and oversee day-to-day program activities.
- Provide child care information and referrals to families and assist parents in identifying child care options that meet their needs and preferences.
- Maintain RCCS's Resource & Referral information through MyChildCarePlan.org, including accurate provider profiles, vacancies, schedules, capacity, and other referral information.
- Maintain current child care provider resource files and conduct regular outreach to providers within RCCS's approved service area.
- Provide families with information on selecting quality child care, licensing resources, TrustLine, and other resources that support informed parental choice.
- Provide technical assistance and resources to existing and prospective child care providers, including information related to licensing, zoning, program development, business practices, and available community resources.
- Coordinate and implement the Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP), including provider recruitment, technical assistance, training, outreach, and support for prospective and existing family child care providers.
- Promote TrustLine and provide information and technical assistance regarding the TrustLine process to families, providers, prospective providers, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate documentation of Resource & Referral requests, referrals, provider contacts, technical assistance, outreach, and other program activities.
- Prepare and submit required Resource & Referral program reports and maintain supporting documentation for agency and CDSS reporting requirements.
- Maintain Resource & Referral procedures, forms, provider information, and program materials and assist with updates as program requirements change.
- Implement and document required actions related to provider referral status, including licensing probation, temporary suspension, revocation, removal, and reinstatement.
- Participate in program monitoring, annual self-evaluation, quality improvement activities, community outreach, meetings, trainings, and activities that promote RCCS Resource & Referral services.
- Collaborate with RCCS staff, child care providers, licensing representatives, community organizations, public agencies, and other partners to coordinate services and resources for families and providers, and perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Knowledge of Western Sonoma County communities and resources.
- Experience working with families, child care providers, and individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and community engagement skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet established deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and use web-based databases, referral systems, and reporting platforms.
- Experience with documentation, data collection, reporting, program monitoring, and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to understand and implement program policies, procedures, and applicable funding and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive family, provider, and agency information.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment with regular use of computers, phones, and other standard office equipment.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, with occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other routine physical activities.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and transport materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel locally for community outreach, meetings, trainings, provider visits, events, and other agency-related activities as required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain automobile insurance as required by RCCS policy when driving for agency business.
- Position may require occasional work outside regular office hours to support community events, trainings, meetings, or other program activities.
