EveryChild California is a statewide non-profit charitable membership organization that provides and develops leadership that supports publicly funded early care and education programs in California.
The Development Assistant is a full-time, non-exempt position that supports EveryChild California’s organizational efforts. The Development Assistant’s attention to detail and organizational skills are integral to the department’s ability to build and steward relationships with community, to build support with vendors and donors and to spread awareness about our work. This is an entry-level position and does not have supervisory or budget responsibilities.
The Development Assistant position is for someone who is self-motivated and can work at times with minimal direction. The candidate must be able to work well in a small, fast-paced environment and be willing to complete various tasks. Attention to detail, the ability to juggle many tasks accurately and quickly, and the ability to meet deadlines are necessary. EveryChild California’s mission and scope of work have grown significantly in the past decade. We seek a passionate and motivated individual to further support this direction.
The Development Assistant works collaboratively with the Professional Development Assistant, Communications Manager and the Director of Policy and Education, and other staff to identify, secure and grow partnerships and funding.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage community database, including regular data clean-up as directed
- Provide database support to departments, pulling records and providing information as needed
- Provide support for membership and donor campaigns and sponsorship requests.
- Provide support to the Communications Manager to cultivate community engagement and contributions.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and collaborate with the Director of Public Policy and Education to manage sponsorship and in-kind donation programs.
- Conduct prospect research as directed and input new constituent information.
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgment letters and other correspondence.
- Support accurate service data collection in compliance with grant reporting requirements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with all program and support staff.
- Special Projects and other duties as assigned.
EveryChild CA currently offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with mandatory weekly, in-office days.
Skills Required
- 3 to 4 years demonstrated and verifiable successful experience in administrative work.
- 1 year of nonprofit fundraising and donor/prospect development experience preferred.
- Reliable and strong initiative and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, in a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities and constant deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace and Office 365.
- Strong proofing skills and can provide writing examples that best exemplify a confident writing style.
- A demonstrated history of customer service-oriented skills.
Qualifications
- Ability to work a modified/extended-hour schedule during event planning and event execution.
- Has the ability for occasional overnight travel (including the coordination of this travel).
